The Estonian Open will follow these regulations and the current competition regulations of the Estonian Bowling Association (EVML).

The competitions will determine the best men’s and women’s bowlers. The competition is the Estonian Rolling Games Association’s 2026-2027 season rating competition.

Competition description

The competition consists of a preliminary round and 5 different final rounds. After the last preliminary round exchange, a desperado round will also take place. Separate calculations for male and female players, the ranking will be determined based on the final results of the competition. In the overall competition, women have a handicap of 8 points per series.

Preliminary round

Individual, American style, 6 sets, up to 4 players per pair of lanes. The referee has the right to place up to 5 players per pair of lanes due to technical malfunction of the lanes. Lane change: odd lanes two lanes to the left, even lanes two lanes to the right after each set. Practice for 10 minutes on the starting lanes. Desperado

  • The best will advance to the first final round.

Final rounds

A total of 48 players will advance – the 4 best Estonians* from the first week’s shifts (squad 1-8), the 2 best from the desperado round and the 42 best from the general table.

* Ranking of the four best Estonians (in shifts 1 to 8) – if the best Estonians have results that allow them to advance from the general table, then the results of the following Estonian players based on shifts 1 to 8 will be taken into account in the ranking.

Final step 1

Places 17-48 play 6 games, American format. The top 16 advance to the next final round.

Final step 2

Places 1-16 from the preliminary rounds play 6 games with those who advanced from the previous final round, American format. The top 16 advance to the next final round.

Players will receive seeding numbers based on this final round. Final step 3

The top 16 from the previous final round play in a match play system until two wins. Final step 4

The winners of the previous final round (top 8) play in a match play system until two wins. Final step 5

The winners of the previous final round (top 4) will play in a step ladder game system.

The place numbers (from Final step 2) will determine the order of the players.

Resolving Ties

Preliminary Rounds and Final Step 1-2

In the event of equal points in the preliminary round, the better competitor is the one with the better result in the last round in the preliminary round, in the event of a tie, the better the previous round, etc.

Final Step 5

In the event of equal points, a full board is rolled one throw at a time (roll-off)-
